Week 19 of training for the Iron Nut was more base miles. Here is the break down.
Swim - I did three workouts going 3.8 miles in 2:20 minutes worth of training. Two long days and one speed day. At the end of one of my speed work outs I did 100 yard swim all out. I did it from a push with a finishing time of 1 minute and 11 seconds. By far not my life time best but pretty fast for me over last few months.
Bike - I traveled 73.5 miles over three different work outs. Total time on the bike 4 hours and 11 minutes.
I got a new toy for my bike and I love it. It is an Aqua Cell. It fits on my aero bars and holds 44 oz of fluids in two different chambers. The smaller one holds 17 oz and I can put it in the freezer and it will keep my main chamber of 27 oz cool. Then once it melts it really nice. Also the top is designed to where I can refuel it easily on the bike. It's great! I can hydrate and stay in the aero position.
Run - I did my best on worst workouts on the run. I had a great hill workout early in the week. On my other short run I ran 5.1 miles with an 8 minute and 51 second pace (This run was done after my speed workout in the pool). I love Hornet Juice
My long run was terrible. I did a brick work out on the 4th of July and I started too late in the morning. By the time I started the 90 minute run it was 10:30 AM and Hot. I struggled to push through to the finish but I didn't quit.
All and all it was a good weak. I was very tried and sore at the begging of the week. I feel rested after the weekend. I did 9 hours and 36 minutes of total training. I plan on not going as hard so that I don't kill myself. We will see.
Also I've been talking to some of my friends about training for this Iron Man. I've got two that are going to do their own 'Iron Man' on the same day. One guy is going to sleep for 13.5 hours straight. My other buddy is going to sit and watch all 3 Lord of The Rings extended editions. Total time for all 3 epic movies he says is around 13.5 hours. We are going to see if can finish the race before he finishes all three movies.
