As I train to run the Albany Marathon I want to preview a small section of the course to help me and anyone else who may be getting ready for the race. I’ve ran this race two times and I’ve lived in Albany, Ga since I was three years old so I feel like I should have some insight on this race.
The course is certified to USATF standards and can therefore be used to establish qualification times for The Boston Marathon. The race course is very flat so it could be a good race to run if you have goals of running Boston.
Elevation
Gain: 521.69 ft / Loss: -511.35 ft
Max: 243.41 ft / Min: 170.77 ft

Here is a map of Miles 1 - 3
The Start Line
The race will start downtown by the Albany Civic Center. They will line up the runners along Front Street for the start of the race. The will be plenty of parking for you, your family, and anybody else you can talk into getting up early in the morning to watch you run. Just know that the race will finish a few blocks away from the start line.
Once the race starts the course will take an immediate left turn to head over The Flint River towards Albany State University. We will run through the campus.
Near mile two there will be a water stop.
Mile three will come as we leave ASU campus head back to Downtown Albany.
If you are going to be spectating, I recommend that you watch the start of the race and then walk the 10th of mile up Front Street and then wait there at the corner of Front Street and Oglethorpe Bvld to see the runners as the come back by.
