Sarah Jane On Her Bike

This afternoon I took Sarah Jane out to ride her bike. The plan was to go down to the stop sign and come back to the house like we always do. However, Sarah Jane wanted to keep on goin'. For the first time she went all the way around the block on her bike. I was so proud! One trip around the block is right at one mile. She did so good. When we got to the house and you would have thought Sarah Jane had won the race by the way she was acted. We drink a BIG glass of ice water and had some chocolate ice cream.

Tri Runner's Work Out Update

The first part of this week the workouts have been nice and easy. I did one swim, bike, and run while I was down in Florida. Loved Florida because there are no hills. Plus the wind wasn't too bad. I would love to do open water swims in the ocean everyday. I see why people call Florida God's waiting room.

I used Thursday as a rest day.

Today I hit the pool this morning at 5:30 AM and did a quick 2100 yard swim. One of the highlights of it was at the end of the work out I did two 50 yard sprints. I joked with my coach and said, 'what did they say, once you break 30 seconds in a fifty you will always break 30 seconds?' We laughed and I took off. The first 50 was 29 seconds and the second 50 was 30 seconds. Both of these were from a push. I ain't as good as I once was, but today I was good twice.

When I got home I did a short bike ride of 14 miles just under 17.5 mph. I didn't want to go out for a ride but once I got out there my legs felt like they could ride forever. I still need to do some more work on the bike because I would like to be able to do 20 mph for that same distance for some of the Sprint Tri's I will be doing later on in the summer.

This weekend I'm goin' down to Valdosta. Plan on take my running shoes and doing a short run of about 4 miles on Saturday with Sarah Jane. Hopefully I will be about to run somewhere between 6 and 9 miles early Sunday morning. I may also get some speed work in by chasing Sarah Jane and her cousins in and around the pool all weekend long. I'm very excited. I think it will be a fun weekend.
