Week 20

Right now I'm training to finish my first Ironman. I will be doing the Iron Nut in early November. I've got a 20 week training plan to help me get across the finish line. If everything goes well, no sickness or injuries, I think the plan will work.

This last week I did just over 7 hours of training. I did three swim works totaling 3.3 miles. I missed all the team workouts at Darton and had to get my swims in at Tony's Gym. I hate Tony's pool. It's nasty and warm. You can see things floating in the water and old band aids on the bottom of the pool. Gross!

I did three runs covering 13.3 miles. My long run on Sunday was cut short because of nutrition problems. I was only able to get in half of my long run. That was the only workout out that I didn't not finish.

On the bike I went 58.4 miles last week. The best workout of the week was Saturday's. I did an out and back. I rode down some new roads which was cool. But what I loved was that it rained very lightly on the second half of the ride. The rain help keep me cool in the South Georgia heat. When I got done with the ride I looked back at the sky and there was a rainbow. I know that the picture is not the best picture of a rainbow but it's what I got.

So week 20 not so bad. I feel good and I didn't get injured. The next few weeks will be more of the same, simple base miles. I know it will get longer and harder as the summer goes on.

Just found your blog. I think I may have done a couple of Tues/Thurs rides with you and I think you may have been in the lane next to me Mon morning. I just started with the Darton group.

Good luck with the Iron Nut. I can't imagine doing a self supported IM. It was tough enough WITH support.
