The Albany Run/Walk Kickoff

Saturday will be the Albany Run Walk Kickoff. I've been looking forward to this day since the season ended last year. It is a very good program and there are a lot of good people that meet up every Saturday.

This Saturday will be the first run of the season for the marathon training. We will be running a micro marathon of 2.62 miles. But what is going to be extra special about this Saturday is that Jeff Galloway will be running with us. Jeff was an Olympic runner and he started the Run Walk program that our group follows.

I think the reason that I'm looking forward to getting back to running with the group is that the people there will help keep me motivated about running. The guys in my pace group have threaten to drag me out of my bed by my toe nails if I don't show up and for some reason I believe them. Plus if it wasn't for the guys in my group I know I would have not finish my first marathon last spring. They could have run off and had a better finishing time but they stayed with me to help me get across the finish line.

So, with the promise of a new season maybe my running times will improve. Right now I'm just hoping that Fay doesn't wash out the run.

Hope you were able to get your run in even though Fay was in town.
