Iron Nut Promo Video
The Iron Nut 2008 is 13 & half weeks away and I'm getting nervous. For some no good reason I took a week off from training and it's got me worried. This race is something that I can't just show up and do, I've got to get the mileage in or I will be in big big trouble on race day.
This week has been light as far as training goes. And I'm keeping it light because I'm doing the Georgia Veterans Sprint Tri in Cordele on Saturday. I'm pretty pumped about doing this race. For me this race is one that I've done every year since I've been doing triathlons. So, there is a lot of pressure for me to get a PR in this race. Plus I know a lot of people that I run and bike with will be competing in this race and I want to see how I compare to them in a triathlon.
My time last year in the race is 1:15:49 (swim - 7:25 T1 - 1:56 Bike - 40:57 T2 - 1:52 Run - 23:41). If I can some how drop about 5 minutes I might place in my age group for the first time in a triathlon. I think I can drop a minute on the swim, two minutes on the bike and two minutes on the run & transitions combined. I've not done any speed work but I have done more volume of training then in the past years. But who knows what will happen on race day. Right now I've got my fingers cross that the rain will hold off till after the race.
