2009 Race Calendar

Looking ahead to 2009 Here are some of the Race that I am thing about doing. I've not registered for any but just entertaining the idea. I'm trying to do races that are close to home or that would be fun for Jay & Janey. If anybody knows of any cool races near Georgia or more specifically South Georgia, let me know. Here is what I've got so far.

2009 Marathons

February 15
- Breast Cancer Marathon. A lot of people from Albany Run Walk will be going down to do this one. I've heard that it is a lot of fun. Don't tell my wife but I will pitch it to her as a 'Romantic Weekend' in Jacksonville. This way it will be a win / win for both of us. Does anybody know any good baby sitters?

March 7th - Albany Marathon. I did this one last year. Being that it's in my home town its hard not to support you own local race. You can't beat a race that goes by your mom's house. Talk about a great place for a Personal Aide Station.

April 25 - County Music Marathon. Jay's mom lives there so I've got a place to crash and not have to pay for a hotel. Plus Jay will use any reason to go and see her family. Then if I do all three Marathons I will qualify for Marathon Manic by running three marathons in three months. But I've got to get running if I'm going to be ready to run three in three months.

2009 Triathlons

March - Tri At The Y. This is a sprint race. It makes for a great tune up race to knock the cobb webs off from chilin' all winter.

May 9 - Gulf Coast Triathlon. It is a Half Ironman distance race. I did one in Macon, Ga last year and it was fun but I would like to do one that is less hilly. I will gladly trade and ocean swim for hills of Middle Georgia. Plus I'm sure my family would rather go to the beach than to Macon. Would You?

August - Georgia Veterans Triathlon. It is a sprint tri. I've done this one the last three years. I would consider this my home race. This is the race I use as the stander to see how I've improved. This is the race that I get to compete against everyone from Albany.

September - Winnerville Triathlon. I've always wanted to do this race but seem to chicken out evey year. I would like to go down and do it next year. It is a small race and from looking at the finishing times I think I could place in my age group. That is if I can get the guts to go down there and do it.

I'm sure there will be a few local 5K's & 10K's that I will do a long the way. I might do one self supported triathlon in the spring. Also I will do the Super Kidz Tri with Sarah Jane. I would like to find one triathlon in June & July so that I would have one race every month all summer long. But that's my plan as of now.
