I don't think I've posted a picture of my new bike. When I got my bike I couldn't find my camera. So here is my new toy. It is a Trek Equinox TTX 9.0

Today I took it out for a 52.5 mile ride. It was just a beautiful day here in South Georgia. I rode from my house to Leesburg, to Bronwood, and back in 3.25 hours.

Here is my question for you. This Saturday I will be doing the Nut Roll and that is a local bike ride here in town. I'm not sure if I should do the 102 or 64 mile loop. This ride will be my last long ride before Ironman 70.3 Augusta and that will give me about 2 weeks to taper.

Now I've never done a 100+ mile ride and I've not gone over 60 miles on the bike this year. So what should I do? I don't want to get injured but I would have tons of confidence going in the the Half Ironman in two weeks from then knowing that I can ride 100 miles. This ride is fully supported and there will be a Sag Wagon to pick me up if I can't finish. I'm leaning towards doing the 100+ mile loop. But I don't know if I can finish the loop. I don't have anything else that I have to do that day and the Dawgs don't kick off till 7:00 PM.

So you till me. Do I play it save and do the 64 mile loop? or do I go for it and try to finish the 102 mile loop?

wellll - my opinion is pretty irrelevant since I have no idea what it's like to do 10 miles on a bike, much less 100. I'd say do the 64 and save your legs/strength for the real thing. while the confidence boost would be a "plus" - it might come at a high price, or with injury?

ehhh who knows! :) keep us posted though

I think you should stay home with Me and Sarah Jane, personally.

BUT, if you MUST (and I know you must)... do the shorter one, only b/c I would rather you be safe than sorry.

Love you!

...and since I said that, you will sure do the 102.

...or maybe that was my plan along.
