Looking Ahead To Loop The Lake

I'm getting excited about this weekend for many reasons.

One - I'm off work which is always nice.
Two - I've got a race to run.
Three - Most of all Sarah Jane will be here.

I've never done this race before but I've think it will be the same 5K route that they use for the triathlon that I've done at Lake Blackshear . It should be a good race for a local 5K. I've seen ad's for the race all over so I hope there will be a big turn out. I know that a lot of the runners from my running club, Albany Run Walk will be there and it will be nice to see some of them.

What is cool about this race is that Sarah Jane will be running it with me. Loop the Lake will have a 5K stroller division. I will put Sarah Jane in my jogging stroller and take off. She loves to go for rides with me. I've taken her with me on many training rides. I have a blast when she is with me. We normally do short runs, not longer than an hour. Sarah Jane and I will sing songs and talk about the birds or doggies or whatever we see. She helps make the time go by when she is with me on the run.

This is what it would look like but without all of those blankets

I would love to get a PR with her. But I would have to run the 5K in under 20:50. I would like to think that it is do-able but I have not done any speed workouts because I'm training for the Iron Nut. However I will be in pretty good shape for this race. Last Sunday night I run over 8 miles at an 8:50 pace and it was in the rain. But who knows what will happen on race day. I do have some new tricks that I'm going to try at this race. One will be doing a warm up. I have not done too many warm ups at races before but with my endurance where it is and the length of the race I think it will help me with the overall time. Two, I've got a new nutrition plan for the race, Hornet Juice!

Whatever happens time wise will be fine with me. The main thing is that I will get to run it with Sarah Jane and see some old running buddies. Plus the money for the race goes to a good cause. But winning my Age Group is always fun. If I place I hope that Sarah Jane gets a medal too. Seeing it that I'm registered in the Stroller division.

Here is Sarah Jane Cross Training for the race. I know it's a kiddie pool but still impressed that she puts her whole face under and swims/kicks to the other side. This is a big step for her.
